What inspired you to launch your own brand?
I was previously a fashion stylist at Harper’s Bazaar in Australia and the UK, so I spent lots of time working in the accessories market. I realized that there was something hugely lacking that I was desperate for. Everything was over-designed or just not my aesthetic. For NEOUS, our criteria was for it to be versatile, wearable, durable and unique in design—everything we do has a twist or unexpected element that sets us apart.

What inspires you?
Inspiration comes from the most random places—a detail in something that a beautiful 80 year old woman is wearing on the train or a texture of an artwork. It also comes from the process. We essentially drape the straps on the model to find our shape, and that’s how we found some of our most iconic designs.

How do you want women to feel when they wear your designs?
I’ve always said that I want the person to wear the product, and not for the product to wear them. I think confidence comes from feeling good in what you’re wearing, and feeling like you’re yourself. I want our designs to fit seamlessly with your persona.
