First up, the London-based designer reveals three women who’ve been particularly influential.

“There are many women who have shaped me both as a person and a designer. But there are three in particular who have inspired my practice as I seek to dress women with both femininity and power.”

Mary Beard

Five years ago, I read Mary's Women and Power: A Manifesto. As I read her descriptions of the ways that womens' voices have been silenced throughout history, I realized that in my profession, women are still always seen, seldom heard. Ultimately, this inspired my AW19 show, which featured orations from 35 outstanding women of various disciplines.

Baroness Helena Morrissey

A true superwoman. Aside from being a financier extraordinaire and mother of nine, she consistently promotes inclusion and diversity of thought. She founded the 30% Club, a campaign for more gender-balanced boards, is Chair of the investment industry’s Diversity Project, and sits in the House of Lords. She reminds me that the sky's the limit.

Reni Eddo-Lodge

I’ve learned so much from Reni, not only from reading the ground-breaking Why I’m No Longer Talking to White People About Race, but from spending time with her, and listening to her speak. She always makes me think further and deeper, and approaches difficult topics with such intelligence, dignity and grace.
