Destination: Los Angeles

For Christie Tyler, West Coast living means leaning into ease without sacrificing sophistication. The LA-based writer, tastemaker and former New Yorker shares how her big move reshaped her approach to dressing and why comfort, when paired with intention, is the ultimate styling lesson worth borrowing.

How has West Coast living influenced your style?

“It’s all about ease, sophistication and feeling comfortable in the beautiful sunshine and natural environment around you. I’ve relaxed more, and lean toward easy fabrics like linen and silk.”

Do you have a fave LA destination that inspires how you dress?

“There are so many Art Deco references to be treasured here... like Chateau or Sunset. Leaning into that old Hollywood glamour has inspired me—like a chic kaftan or slip dress, but when paired with chunky jewelry or an oversized pair of sunglasses, it takes it to that next level of high fashion.”

What's one lesson women should borrow from California dressing?

“Challenge yourself—are those heels truly what you want to wear? Would a kitten heel be better? Or maybe you love oversized silhouettes, or a great pair of jeans. True happiness occurs when we feel most ourselves.”
