September signals the start of my favorite season: Fall! It’s when I start to transition into layers, cozy cashmere & warm coats. Over the last several years, it has also meant much more to me because it’s Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Through my volunteer work with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and ALSAC, I have learned so much more about what that means and how important it is to come together with compassion for families who are experiencing difficult times.
My connection with St. Jude started in college during a letter writing campaign. Later in my career (marketing for a medical device company), I was traveling around the country… to hospitals for presentations & operating rooms for spine surgery. Among the dozens of surgeries I was present for, there is one that stands out in my mind—the one I went to at a children’s hospital. There is no heartbreak like seeing a child going into surgery.
A cozy sweater (a camel-colored Christopher Kane with cool detailing!) and comfortable trousers. And since things are not back to normal for us yet, I still keep an eye out for zoom-friendly tops.
When I started my blog 9to5chic 10 years ago, my goal was to journal my daily work outfits. I wanted to express personal style at work while working within the constraints of “business casual” attire. From the beginning, my style mantra has always been to invest in classics that are both polished & effortless—and my most favorite outfits are ones that stand the test of time.
I was so excited to see that Olivela carries one of my favorite brands, Vintner’s Daughter. I’ve been using their serum for years! When they launched their essence, the two became my go-to nightly routine (first the essence; then serum). As a busy mom, simplifying has been necessary and the two products address all of my skin concerns. And to be honest: the scent of the serum makes me so relaxed! It’s actually a big part of my routine for that reason. When skincare meets self-care, it’s a win-win.
